“Your body is the ground of your being.”
— Thich Nhat Hanh

Dance has been a constant thread throughout my life. As a child, I spent hours creating routines and taking ballet classes; as a teenager, I danced through the night at raves. Movement has always been my refuge, a place where I can unplug from worry, self-criticism, and the pull away from the present moment. When I dance, I feel more fully myself: connected to my heart, my body, and to something larger than the individual self, a sense of belonging to both the human and the more-than-human world.

At fifteen, I attended my first 5Rhythms workshop with its founder, Gabrielle Roth, and immediately felt a deep resonance with her work. I discovered that 5Rhythms was not simply a way to dance, but a powerful path of self-discovery and emotional healing, a practice that helped me open my heart to myself and to others.

Through dance, I felt more alive. More at home. What I had found was not just a class, but a form of movement medicine.

My teenage years were challenging, and the support of the 5Rhythms practice, particularly my regular classes with Sue Rickards, was life-saving. In my early twenties, I completed the Foundation Year in Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy. This, alongside my ongoing movement practice, gave me the grounding and confidence to write a book for teenage girls, Sisters Unlimited: Every Girl’s Guide to Life, Love, Bodies and Being You, published by Random House.

I was a step-mum from the age of 20 and I had my 2 daughters in my mid-twenties. After travelling the world while making the documentary 1 Giant Leap, our family moved to Mallorca.

At twenty-eight, I began the 5Rhythms teacher training with Gabrielle Roth and started teaching in Mallorca in 2007. During that time, I also founded a dance and yoga studio in central Palma called Earth Yoga. In 2011 I moved to Oxford, where I met my present husband, and together we raised our four children there until 2023.
In 2014 we opened our first health food shop, Wild Honey. Since then, two more have followed, each becoming not just a place to buy organic food but a community hub for wellbeing, connection, and local support.

We relocated to Bristol in 2023, where I have returned to teaching and am loving getting to know the dance community here.

I am deeply committed to my own ongoing healing and learning. Over the years I have trained in a range of complementary approaches, including Family Constellations (two-year training with Nicola Dunn), shamanic work with Carol Day, and herbalism through the School of Insight Herbalism with Nathaniel Hughes. I am currently undertaking training with IBMT as a Somatic Therapist, reflecting the increasingly somatic focus of my work.

I am an accredited 5Rhythms teacher and a member of the 5Rhythms Teachers Association.

Above all, I feel deeply grateful for the teachers, practices, and communities that have supported me on my own path, and it is an honour to share this work with others.

I have been dancing 5 Rhythms for nearly 20 years and Jess's class in Oxford is my favourite out of the many classes that I have attended over the years. So good that I regularly travel from London to participate. Every 5 Rhythms teacher is different of course. I find that Jess has a unique sensitivity to the body's rhythms and how they correspond to music. In her classes she creates an intimate and safe space to allow dancers to explore themselves as deeply and sensitively as they dare to go. Dancing one of Jess's classes is an exquisite experience. I love Jessica's classes, feel held and encouraged to delve into the dance that my physical body wishes to express; also the way she takes us through body parts into the flowing rhythm of the dance, brilliant! Lizzie Austin, Homeopath

Jessica's groups are the highlight of my week. With her excellent facilitation skills I can move through all the week's issues in my own way and I step back into the world calmer, more resilient and hopeful.
Whatever you are dealing with in your everyday life Jessica creates a safe space. She facilitates unobtrusively with grace, warmth and honesty so you can experience transformation to a more peaceful and contented state.

Jessica’s movement classes are better than any drug prescription!  For me they are essential physical, mental, emotional and social maintenance. Her eclectic wide-ranging choice of music inspires me to move in all sorts of ways I might not usually, helping to make sense of and process whatever toxins, emotions, narratives might be storing up in my body.
Her unobtrusive facilitation, tangibly underpinned by years of experience, provides a safely held permissive space for anything that might emerge.  The class benefits from Jessica’s own continuing curiosity and learning about the human experience.  Amanda Maffett, Life Coach

"From the first time I stepped on a dance floor with Jess I was touched by her deep embodiment and grace. I have since been present at many of Jess's weekly classes, including the women's sessions and also been to weekend and day long workshops she has facilitated. Jess responds to the energetic field in her movement sessions with a wide range of music that seems to invite the body to move in new and essential ways. Her sensitive suggestions to slow movement down, or bring attention inwards to the breath and inner sensation or outwards to another human being just at the 'right' moment are deeply intuitive and have allowed me a sense of connection and safety in my body. Jess combines strength, vulnerability and openness in her offerings to the Oxford community and leads the way for many of us in inspiring love and collaboration. I look forward to dancing with Jess again soon". Sarah Jane Heath, Artist
